The technique used for a breast lift will depend on various factors, including the amount of excess skin to be removed, the degree of sagging, and the patient's goals. Patients with less excess skin and minimal sagging may be suitable for a crescent or periareolar ("donut") lift, which involves small incisions around the areola and minimal scarring.

However, for patients with more severe sagging and excess skin, a vertical ("lollipop"), inverted T ("anchor"), or Wise pattern breast lift may be necessary. These techniques require more extensive incisions on the breasts to remove excess skin and reshape the breast tissue. While these techniques can provide more significant results, they do require more postoperative care.

After your breast lift surgery, which typically lasts between two to three hours, you will stay in the Hospital overnight and be discharged the following morning. Drains are not routinely used for mastopexy surgery, and you will be placed in a supportive bra following surgery.

You will need someone to collect you from the Hospital and support you on your journey home. We advise travelling via car and not to take public transport.  You should plan to take 7-14 days off work following your surgery, depending on how physical your job is.  While most patients find the pain to be tolerable, you will still need time to rest post-surgery.

The consultation is an important stage in your journey, it is important for patients to feel well informed about the elected operation and potential risks associated with the surgery. Dr Anna offers a personalised and detailed consultation for her patients. The appointment can take roughly 30 minutes - 1 hour depending on the individual. Dr Anna will examine your breasts, take measurements, and recommend the best treatment plan for you based on your physical requirements, body shape, existing breast tissue, degree of ptosis and your desired result. Dr Anna may also recommend a combination of two procedures such as an augmented mastopexy (breast uplift with implants). If you are discussing breast implants you will have the opportunity to try on some sizers in a bra to give an indication of the weight and projection of the implants before making a decision on the size. Following your first consultation, you will need to allow a 14 day reflection period before having surgery. Dr Anna offers all her patients a second consultation ahead of surgery to ensure they feel informed about the elected operation.
